How long does Monostat 1 take to fully work?… by b309
I have a yeast infection. I bought Monostat1 for it today. The label does not mean it works in one day, but that there is only one dose. It's the Monostat combination pack, so there is the ovule to insert deeply in the vagina, and there's the anti-itch cream to use on the external lips to calm the itching until the ovule works. The package and the instruction insert say nothing about how long it should take to work; it also says that I can't have sex with my husband, he can't use a condom, and I can't use tampons until the treatment is finished. How many days did that take, for anyone who's used this?

My dr gave me the hayfever injection (steroids) and now I've realised i want a baby soon.?… by Cass
The leaftlet in the box it came in says “consult a doctor if you are pregnant or thinking of becoming pregnant before you have the injection”. The problem is, the doctor gave me the empty box and leaflet to take away with me after he gave me the jab and didn't mention issues pregnancy. The injection is called Kenalog. What happens if I get pregnant now? Or how long will I have to wait before it will be safe to try for a baby?

What are the most popular medications for diabetes, in terms of recent sales, number of patients, or some similar measure? I am interested in data for both oral medications, insulins, and other types of medication. The purpose of the question is to find out which meds out of those available are the most used and the most popular at the present time. I am not looking for treatment advice, and I am not looking for the names of just one or two medications. Thanks!

How do I get rid of the itching of Neurodermatitis?. Is this disease curable?… by Liane
I have a persistent itch on my face. The diagnosis from a lab-test is neurodermatitis. My research through Google tells me that it is not curable. How do I stop the itching? Is there anyone with this problem who can give me some help? I have suffered for the past 8 months and I am frustrated. Doctors prescribe lotions and the 5 different prescriptions do not help. Anyone who can provide me with information that might be helpful would have my sincerest gratitude.
Thank you.

Moisturizers- Moisturizers or emollients including bath oils, soap substitutes can be applied to the dermatitis as frequently as required to relieve itching, scaling and dryness. Emollients should also be used on the unaffected skin to reduce dryness. Emollient therapy helps to restore one of the skin's most important functions, which is to form a barrier to prevent bacteria and viruses getting into the body and therefore help to prevent a rash becoming infected. Emollients are safe and rarely cause an allergic reaction. Occasionally, products with lanolin may cause a reaction. Ideally, moisturizers should be applied three to four times a day. Apply in a gentle downward motion in the direction of hair growth to prevent accumulation of cream around the hair follicle (this can cause infection of the follicle).
Coal Tar- Coal tar has been used to treat the itching and inflammation caused by skin conditions for hundreds of years. The tar contains chemicals that soothe the skin. Crude coal tar is a byproduct of oil production. It makes the skin more sensitive to light. In its natural state it is a thick, brownish-black substance that is messy to apply to the skin. Refined coal tar preparations, many of which are available over the counter, may be more cosmetically acceptable. Coal tar has been used for many years to treat psoriasis and it has few side effects. However, it does not work for everyone. In addition to being messy to use, it has a strong odor and can stain skin and clothing. It can cause sun sensitivity, and may irritate acute dermatitis. Tar creams or bath emulsions can be helpful for mild inflammation of atopic dermatitis. The smell may be offensive to some people.

what effect does chemotherapy have on acne?… by martinyear
if any…. i suppose it could be a positive effect, if the chemo is killing cells.
I am taking it very seriously, but am just curious about the effects on acne. can anyone help?
Best Answer:
I spent the last year going through chemotherapy for Hodgkin's Disease. Every chemo treats your body differently. My first 12 rounds of chemo where ABVD (a pretty standard treatment for Hodgkin's) When I stopped responding, I was put onto a salvage chemo of Navelbine, Doxil and Gemzar. Three doses put me into remission. I then went into the hospital for high dose chemotherapy (a combination of BCLU, Etoposide, Arc-C and Cytoxin) and a stem cell salvage.
The one thing all of my chemo's had in common is they dry out your skin, which did seem to keep all acne away. Some people might criticize you for your question but you do make a good point. Cancer patients want to find any positive thing they can about chemo and other treatments. Hey, losing ten pounds is always nice. Having acne clear up or not having to shave for six months is a plus during a time that's not always easy.

How do I treat my swollen gums?… by R
I have braces so brushing is not very effective anymore, and my gums are all swollen up. However, I floss (like the orthodontist told me to) and soak my mouth with peroxide (I heard it helps to get rid of bacteria), but my gums are still swollen.
Any advice?
Best Answer:
Did the orthodontist give you any proxabrushes? They look like little Christmas tree shaped bristles. These work great to get all the plaque out from around the brackets. Also using an electric toothbrush (like a Sonicare) helps massage the gums and remove plaque. Some of the inflammation could be from moving the teeth, if you had a lot of spacing and the teeth are moving closer. But usually it comes down to not removing all the bacteria. Ortho requires meticulous oral hygiene. I am sure I dont hae to tell you that all kinds of stuff gets caught around the brackets!!
I wouldnt rinse with peroxide for very long, long term usage can actually harm the tissue. Instead ask your dentist or orthodontist if they can give you a RX fro PerioGard, or if they have it available to purchase in office. This rinse kills bacteria better than any over the counter rinse. If you dont want to use that rinse try Breath Rx rinse or the new Crest Pro Health rinse. I would stay away from Listerine because it contains a lot of alcohol which actually dries the tissue.
Interested if you are experiencing a lot of bleeding along with the swollen gums. This is the telltale sign that it is due to bacteria and plaque more than movement of the teeth.
Key is brush, floss, proxabrush, rinse. Also try a waterpik that flushes bacteria and debris from around the brackets and gums.
Good Luck, remember it will be over eventually and then you will appreciate how much easier it is to clean your teeth without all that stuff!!

Is it okay to take Blood pressure med's at night? at the same time as I take my Birth Control.?… by i love my d
I am currently on Birth Control (Yasmin) and I take this at night however ………I am suposed to be taking High blood pressure med (Uniretic) but I always forget so I have not taken for months……….does anyone know if I take them at the same time will it have a negative effect? or will I be okay if I take them at the same time?
Best Answer:
NO NO NO - not at bed time!
Uniretic is a for high blood pressure. it is a Combination drug with Ace I and HCTZ. Hctz is a diuretics. Diuretics work by getting rid of extra fluid in your body by increasing your urine output, and thus decrease your blood pressure. and nobody would want to take a diuretics at night b/c it makes you go to the bathroom!!
if you want to take both together at the same time for Convenience. yes, it is ok, take both of them in the MORNING! don't take the uniretic at night!

What can I do to prevent breakouts of acne?… by jaymill79@sbcglobal.n
I've dealt with acne ever since I was 17. Over the years, I've tried everything from creams and pads to even seeing a dermatalogist and letting them poke me in my face with needles(ouch!) As I got older, I noticed that I would get them the most on the bridge of my nose and the space between my eyes. I really don't believe the hype of chocolate and fatty foods being the culprit. I wash my face daily with oil-free face wash because I don't like using regular soap. I've heard that drinking enough water could be a solution to this. Plz help me and thanx in advance for the advice.
Best Answer:
Drink 8-10 glasses of water daily to flush out the toxins in your body.
Continue to keep your face clean by using legitimate products like Phisohex wash, clear skin pads…
Keep your fingers and hair off your face.
Consider trying the ProActive line of products. They're guaranteed or your money back.
