What are the types of food or recipes that a person with Ulcers should eat?… by Kevin82A
Recently diagnosed with two duodenal bleeding ulcers & acid reflux disease. I hate to diet of any kind and I'm a bad patient. I probably won't do anything to adjust my diet, but I do want to know my options.
Best Answer:
Forget diets. The most probable cause of ulcers is an infection of the bacterium Helicobacter pylori or pyloridi. This pest can be cleaned out with a cocktail of three drugs, which takes about a week to clean the infection out. Metranidazole (flagyl), tetracycline, and peptobismol. (i.e.a.k.a. bismouth subsalicylate). Biaxin can be substituted for flagyl and the tetracycline. Get everyone who lives with you treated so you do not ping pong the infection among you.
Forget bacterial tests the bug very often does not show on tests including biopsie. (there's one test that measures stomache amonia levels that works better than the others. But try the treatment; it takes little time and it works.
Good luck,
Doc. Dan.

Why can't viruses be defeated by pills?… by befirsttokn
why dont we still have any cure for viruses other then our own immune system?
Best Answer:
There are several antiviral drugs. For example, Four antiviral medications (amantadine, rimantadine, zanamavir and oseltamivir) have been approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for treatment of influenza.
Most of the antivirals now available are designed to help deal with HIV, herpesvirus, which is best known for causing cold sores but actually covers a wide range of diseases, and the hepatitis B and C viruses, which can cause liver cancer. Researchers are now working to extend the range of antivirals to other families of pathogens.

How do I go about talking my dermatologist into giving me acutane for my acne?… by je
I want to use the strongest method for getting rid of my acne.I've had it for 5 years and it's no
little white heads. It's cystic ance and it's painful
and severe.Pimples with no head.Just big red bumps that itch and throb.I saw another dermatologist last year who told me I had to buy a bunch of otc stuff.I was pissed because I thought they were supposed to give you a prescription cream or pill. What can I say to
try and get my derm. to give me good treatment for severe acne?
Best Answer:
have you tried other prescription methods? Acutane is VERY dangerous, especially if you are female. There are a lot of differant appts. and meds. you have to take before going on acutane. Also, as a user of everything from Acutane, to Proactive, to just the stuff on the counter at Walgreens, the best thing I have recieved is a combo of:
Benzoyl Peroxide 8% (wash…2x a day)
Tazorac (topical…. at night)
Duac Gel (topical…morning)
and
Bactrum (pill… 2x a day)
also, I see a lot of people are recommending proactive. FOR ME- it made my skin worse, Dry, irratated, more broken out, and at sometimes my skin had an almost waxy feel to it

I am taking K-Tab for my potassium. Is there a reason they would not disolve in my system?… by elvizpressl
They are in my stool whole. they are a yellow pill so they are easily noticible.
Best Answer:
Potassium Chloride (K-Tab) is for slow release of potassium Chloride. Your digestive system may not have digested it all. Check with your doctor to see if there are other potassium alternatives. Don't take salt substitutes with K-Tab as you may get to much Potassium Choride in your system. Good Luck.

How do you decrease the amount of acid in your mouth/stomach?… by poohba
I am already taking nexium. I would like to find out what other home remedies are being used for this. Can you take more than nexium alone such as antacids as tums? Also has anyone taken prilosec with nexium?
Thanks!
Best Answer:
Yes, you can take other things in addition as needed including Zantec.
Yesterday I looked up homeopathic remedies for chronic heartburn (gerd) because being on medication every day is bad. It kills the good acid that digests your food! and probably thus hinders nutrient absorption.
This is what the book recommended and what I bought yesterday. They said to take Pancretin with Bromelain. I searched the vitamin aisle for over a half hour and I found a combo supplement. It even contains pepcid and papaya, two other digestive help aids.
The supplement is called Super Enzyme Caps by Twin Labs.
I am hoping that if I continue to take this natural remedy I can wean myself off of my daily prilosec.
I purchased mine in The Vitamin Shoppe.
