What is the most commonly accepted antibiotic perscribed?… by storytllr19

January 23, 2008 · Filed Under biaxin · Comment

That is, many people are allergic to many varieties of antibiotis, like penicillin. So which one is least likely to cause a reaction. (writing a book, but I don't where to look for this info.

Best Answer:

The oldest antibiotic would be in the class of Penicillin's. The most commonly prescribed antibiotics are still penicillin's and cephalosporins. Due to antibiotic resistance in bacteria, different types of antibiotics are being prescribed with time.
Some of the “lesser” allergy sensitivity causing antibiotics are azithromycin (zithromax), levofloxacin (levaquin), ciprofloxacin (cipro), clarithromycin (biaxin) etc. Some of these fall under the category of macrolides and some of them are fluoroquinolones. These are the more widely prescribed antibiotics due to large bacterial range and due to bacterial resistance with penicillin's and cephalosporins.
I hope this helps.

What is the molarity of a saturated solution?… by Trini

January 21, 2008 · Filed Under sulf · Comment

What is the molarity of a saturated solution of potassium sulfate (K2SO4) if the solubility is 13 g per 100 g H2O at 25 oC? The density of the solution is 1.1g/mL

PLEASE SHOW HOW YOU GOT THE SOLUTION, THANKS!

Best Answer:

Molarity = moles/liter and the molar mass of pot. sulf. is 174.259 gms/mole. You have 13 grms in 100 gms water which is = 13 gms/100 mls water = 13/174.259 moles/100mls
= 0.075 moles/100mls = 0.75 moles/liter = 0.75 M.

I'm curious as to what substances can cause you to test positive on a drug test for methamphetamines/amphetamines, OTHER then actual meth. I heard that some diet drugs can, can anyone tell me any diet drugs that are available in today's market OTC that could cause a false positive on a drug test?

what can i do or feed my dog with liver problem?… by Mike

January 17, 2008 · Filed Under enulose · Comment

i wen to the vet i got medicine and a diet dog food called kd hill,s prescription diet food i love my dog but please help me what i can boil what natural foods?what can i do? this is my first dog im 18 years old i had my dog for 11 years i think or 10 im the only one that seems to care in my home please help?? should she be outside in the sun?? inside?? she always sleeps inside please help thanks

Best Answer:

Use the prescription diet your vet prescribed, and talk to them about supplements to support liver function (such as Enulose or Marin, depending on the particular problem with the liver).

Low, specific protein diets are critical to maintaining a patient with permanent liver damage. Supplementing the diet with the enzymes and chemicals the liver usually must make, but now cannot because it is damaged, also helps a lot in maintaining liver function.

Your dog is on a razor's edge with permanent liver damage, please don't rock the boat by trying to cut corners and find alternatives to your vet's instructions.

I have tried 5 different birth control and bleed on every one of them?… by getting o

January 15, 2008 · Filed Under estrostep · Comment

Can anyone tell me a very good birth control pill that does not cause cramping and bleeding between periods?

Best Answer:

Which ones have you tried? http://www.wdxcyber.com/ncontr13.htm recommends the following: Yasmin, Demulen 1/50, Zovia 1/50E, Ovcon 50, Desogen, Ortho-Cept, Estrostep Fe, Loestrin 1/20. Your doctor could probably give you recommendations, too. I wouldn't try the ones that are designed to limit the number of periods you have. They're notorious for causing breakthrough bleeding.

If I were you, though, I'd give up on oral contraceptives and use condoms and a separate spermicide. Used correctly together, there as reliable as the Pill, and you won't have to worry about hormonal side effects.

Can osteoarthritis from the mother affect her infant?… by kin

January 15, 2008 · Filed Under ridaura · Comment

I am breast feeding, I'm not sure about having osteoarthritis, but it runs in the family, and I started to have pain in my hands, so I wonder if that illness can affect brast milk.

Best Answer:

Only in the sense that your breastmilk will lessen your child's chances of developing it… even when your son/daughter is old and grey themselves!!

It should not affect the nutritional value, or calorie count, or anything like that.

Now you may want to check here on this list for safe medications to take, if you're taking Ridaura, Myochrysine, or Solganal - they're all listed at an L5, which is the most dangerous class of meds you can take while breastfeeding… ask for something else if you're on one of those.

How long does it take for the side effects of prednisone (steriod) to wear off in a dog?… by drkknight20

January 15, 2008 · Filed Under pred · Comment

Hi,

We have a German Shepherd Dog who has been prescibed prednisone for an inflamatory condition. Throughout the Course of the drugs he has been unable to stop urinating (i.e. dripping constantly). He finished the course of drugs Sunday and there has been no change in the side effects.

Has anyone had a similar experience? How long did the side effects last after you finished the drugs. We're worried he's been permanently damaged.

Thanks for any advice…

Best Answer:

Was he WEANED off prednisone gradually,… as he should have been gradually dosed on?

Pred. does stay in system for awhile.
1 of the side affects is lots of thirst,.. which prob. contributed to his frequent peeing.

There is a course of dosage for meds. like Pred. which is gradual increase of dose at onset of giving and then a decrease of weaning off period. Otherwise dangerous.

Approx. a 5-7 days before pred. side affects should subside.
Hope this helps.
Gd. luck.

Prehypertension: 120-139 [systolic] or 80-89 [diastolic] requires education, lifestyle modifications
