I was on Permax for approximately 14 years. I was changed to Requip about 1 year ago. My new internist wanted me to get off the Requip. After I went through a 2 week process of getting off the Requip I immediately started having extreme dizzy spells. My internist and cardiologist both diagnosed it as vertigo. I am on the 6th day of medicine for the vertigo with absolutely no improvement. Both doctors said they knew of no reason why getting off the requip would cause the vertigo. Just wondering if anyone had any information.

I’ve used it for about 8 months, rinse thoroughly afterward, but my palate and gums are very sore and sensitive to hot and cold.

I’m type II Diab. and am currently taking Januvia 100 mg., I’m also on 3 BP meds: Avapro 300mg, Coreg 12.5 mg twice a day, and Norvasc 10mg And have severe Fybromyalgia and take Cymbalta 60 mg every other day because of its side effects. I also take vytorin 10/40 and I take otc for Hot flashes by way of Estroven Plus. I’m also a Coumadin 7.5 mg patient due to an inoperable 2 centimeter blood clot in a branch of my lower right lung on 9/10/08 and a 3 1/2 day stay in the hospital. I was weaned from the Lovenox shots to the Coumadin and given the Protein C & S test and come to find out that (as I already knew) because of my heredity angina, etc. on my dad’s side and the Diab. and blood clots, etc. on my mother’s side, I came up so low that now they’re afraid to take me off the coumadin as prescribed for the 1st 6 months after a blood clot. In other words, I don’t want to come off the coumadin, risk forming another blood clot just so they can get a clean test result instead of a false positive like what I did and I really don’t want to plan on dying in Feb. when I’m scheduled to come off the coumadin. Any takers on this?

I have been on Tikosyn for about 11 months. I have been having migrating abdominal pains for the past 3 months. They are in areas of the uterus, back, ovaries and rectal area. The hemmroids I developed almost 40 years ago when I had my daughter are now back in force.
No weight loss, or gain. No fever, eating ok, lots of energy, but am concerned about the migrating pains. Am scheduled for a Colonoscopy next week.
Anyone else having symptoms like this?

I have recently been released from the hospital due from a stroke. It was a bleed, and I actually had to have brain surgery because, of my progress. I have been on the nuva ring for almost a year and I am unsure that this is the cause… My Neurologist perspective is still unknown. Could this actually be the cause?

I have been troubled with diarrhea, abdominal discomfort, bowel seepage—-for over a year——was put on flagyll initially to correct a partial bowel blockage——-sometime —maybe several months—-Benicar had been added to my Norvasc, glyburide, and glucophage which I have been on for many years—-keeping BP and sugar under control quite well——I am 84—-126 lbs, never smoked, drank, and ate healthy——My primary diagnoses my condition as colitis—-at least that is what is written down—–chrons disease, diverticulosis, celiac etcetcet has been tossed around—–I have seen a dietician—–eaten accordingly( was doing all that in the first place)—-am having to wait til Jan 12 to see a gastro DR.——-and my Primary referred me to a surgeon——-who quite frankly seemed rather uninterested in me when I didn’t jump up and down in joy at the thought of surgery—–so he said well just watch what you eat——-I have a history of being allergic to medications or at least having unpleasant reactions——-I never even took an aspirin til I was probably 45—-so my body must think meds are not necessary——I cannot help but wonder if perhaps the Benicar may not be marrying well with my other meds(which I took comfortably for years)my friend checked with the pharmacy and found that Benicar has only been in use for about 5 years——-my friend found further information that dizziness, diarrhea, indigestion, muscle pain, blood sugar variations—ar among the side effects of Benicar alone——I have experienced all of the above——suggestions would be appreciated—thank you, Marie Pypiak

I have periphreal neurophy, casused by frosbite in Korea in the winter of 1950. In October 2006, I was placed on Lyrica, 150 mg, for the condition. Finally, I was not getting any better so I quite completely in August 2008. Within two weeks, I was a completely different man - no more depression, and I was extremely happy, and joked a lot. I had lung cancer in September 2006. With the recent cessation of Lyrica, and such a change in my personality, my family doctor suspected that my lung cancer had spread to my brain. I did not believe it. He ordered an MRI of the brain last week and it came back negative. No one will accept the fact that quitting the Lyrica caused me to have a change in my personality, etc.

After taking tamoxifen for 2 years, I have on doctors reccomendation switched to Arimidex. Initially it appeared to cause nausea but now after taking it for 10 weeks I have very heavy vaginal bleeding. Much more than a regular period. I have not had a period since chemo 3 years ago.
Is this common? I have contacted my gp who has suggested a blood test to see what my ovaries are doing? should I be worried, could there be uglier things going on?

Will hydrocodone and darvocet show up the same in a standard urinary drug screen. I recently had a very large wisdom tooth pulled. I was prescribed Propoxyphene (darvocet) 100/650. The pain was just so severe that i took a hydrocodone that was prescribed to me a few months back (like april or may) my concern is that i am randomly drug tested at more than one place. I know the prior prescription to hydrocodone will help but i am still wondering if the two medications will have the same results. thank you.

I have been taking Endocet, started at 500/500, then up to 7.5/500, now at 10/325, altogether for approx. 2.5 yrs. I have an incurable painful disease and couldn’t stand the pain any longer so my doctor prescribed the narcotic. The Endocet, (generic Percocet), started off wonderful, relieving me of my pain and I felt good. Over time, the drug starting “pulling my strings” should I say by controlling me. I used to be an energetic person, even with my pain, and now nothing seems to bother me and I have become lazy and enjoy just laying in bed watching TV. After researching the long term effects of this type of narcotic, I understand what is happening to me and I am going to try Suboxone prescribed by a licensed doctor as soon as I find the right one. There are other side effects I get from the Endo, however over the past three days, I have had the most serious heartburn and worst of all, severe headaches, so severe I can’t even stand up. I’ve been laying in bed with an icepack on my head. I am also taking liquid Tylenol since the 10 mg. pills I have 325 Tylenol, instead of the 500 I used to take with the lower doses Oxycodone. Has anyone out there in cyberspace taken Endocet for a long period of time and suddenly start getting severe headaches or could I possibly have a virus or may be just stressing over the fact that I know I am not the same person my poor family misses due to the other side effects? Any helpful feedback is greatly appreciated. I have not read any other people mention headaches from Endocet, but to the contrary, they take it for headaches????

I have been taking sinemet 25/100 for 4x dail, mirapex 3x daily at 0.5mg, selegeline 5mg daily for several years, and without these meds I can not walk but with them I have been mobile enough to teach part time. As off times become more erratic I have tried adding comtan. It has not helped. I am considering tasmar. The side effects are scary, especially the idea of liver damage. They say it should work within three weeks. Your experience. Has it worked? How common are side effects? If blood test indicates liver problems can it be reversed by stopping tasmar? Thank you for any responsse.

I am a 230lb male 58 yrs old. I have recently been informed that prolonged use of Nexium (I take one a day for acid reflux)may depleat Calcium in the body. Is there any documented proof of this. Along with my daily Nexium I also take 1 (80ml) Asprin along with 1 GNC multi Vitamin(for males over 50) and 2 Multi Maca (for prostate health and libido)as diet supplements. Is there anything in this “daily cocktail” that when combined with Nexium that could possibly prove to be detrimental to my health. I am experiencing symptoms of sluggishness, joint pain, diorreha and excessive flatulance.

My husband recently started Champix 8 weeks ago. We have been married for about 11 weeks. He has always been a quiet person, however the last 4 weeks I have noticed that he has no sexual drive. He is 34 years old. I also notice that he appears to be like a zombie, even when he’s present it does not feel like he’s there. Emotionally he is very unresponsive to my needs. His whole entire demenour towards me has changed. He shows me no affection and is not meeting physical or emotional needs. Do you think this may be attributed to the Champix? Should I let him continue to the 12 weeks (I have begun feeling depressed & while he is happy he has quit smoking he’s not happy at where our relationship is at)? If these can be attributed to Champix are they reversible? He described a feeling of unrest in the genital area, just randomly at work, where he has a desire to do something but cannot. I did initiate sex with him last week, but again there’s no connection between us anymore, emotionally he just feels like he’s not there and outside of his sex drive he does not notice a change in his behaviour and doesn’t understand my concerns. Advice?

I’m from Vietnam. I was inoculated first Verorab rabies vaccine (made from France) 5 days ago. My doctor asked me not to use corticosteroid drugs because it may lead to immunodeficiency, vaccination failure. Meanwhile I have used Seretide (an asthma spray drug which contains about 250 mcg fluticasione propionate/120 sprays) for 6 months. Although I tried change other asthma drugs but I can’t stop using Seretide. One other doctor said me that Seretide mostly affected on the spot, seldom caused systemic corticosteroids effects. So I still use it twice a day. Anyway I’m still very puzzled whether Seretide is harmful or not? I heard that some kinds of vaccine contains both inactivated virus and activated virus. How does Verorab contain activated rabies virus? May Verorab vaccine cause rabies for vaccinator (like me) who is in immunodeficiency (does seretide made this because of using it for a long time)? I am obsessed seriously by my case. Please answer my questions. Thanks in advance!

My husband has had triple heart bypass, an implanted defriallator
and pacemaker. He take coreg and a few months ago was put
on beta breaker Amilodipine. He started out with 2.5 and did okthen he was encoraged to go 5. after which he got so he could notbreathe, could not walk more than a few steps without
extreme inability to get his breath. Just became inactive and slept a lot. He personally cut back to half dose of 2.5 and is doing better with activity. What is the advantage of just sitting
and taking this medication or being up and walking and getting

Something does not ring true about the FDA’s claim that it has properly monitored of Cephalon’s Provigil. Provigil first hit the shelves in 1998. That means it took the FDA 9 years to determine, warn the public, and order Cephalon to modify its labeling to include a bolded warning of Provigil’s ability to cause delayed-type hypersensitivity reactions. That warning claimed that just 6 patients over the course of that 9 years had developed the warned-about delayed-reaction hypersensitivy conditions, including Stevens-Johnson Syndrome, TENS & D.R.E.S.S. (Drug Reaction with Eosinophilia and Systemic Symptoms). Before the FDA ever released its late 2007 warning, my own doctor reported my own Provigil hypersensitivy reactions to the FDA. His report about me appears accurately summarized on Patientsville.com. But on just 1/2 of the same “page” of Patientsville.com (reports made prior to the FDA’s warning), I counted at least 6-7 cases of Stevens-Johnson Syndrome and 2 or 3 other hypersensitivity reactions. That’s a bare minimum of 9 cases of serious Provigil side effects reported to the FDA in just a single year! How can that information square with Patientsville.com’s data, which itself is based on actual reports to the FDA!

Another thing - the FDA reports published by Patientsville for all nine years indicates that about twenty (20) deaths stemming from Provigil use have occurred. The FDA’s public warning claimed that no deaths at all have been caused by Provigil. Look it up yourself if you must, then give us your thoughts about FDA credibility.

I have been taking Diltiazem, as Angitil, 180mg twice a day, for the better part of a decade (for angina of unknown cause, and as an adjunct to my COPD meds) yet recently it has, for want of a better term, turned on me (I have severe COPD [never smoked] and severe CFS - so identifying the cause of new symptoms is difficult given the number of drugs I take (16).

Anyway, about six months ago, I began to experience nausea in the mornings, and I also became progressively weaker, both of which I ascribed to my CFS.

However, last Sunday I ran out of Angitil (my pharmacist had failed to deliver), and on Monday morning, I was surprised to encounter almost no nausea, and felt reasonably OK (for me), throughout the day. Tuesday night I remembered I had a couple of Angitil caps squirreled away, so I put one aside to take this morning.

I take my morning meds at 05.00 (British time) - by 06.15 I was subjected to such devastating nausea that I was forced to return to bed, instead of getting up and now, at 13.55, I still feel pretty dreadful.

There’s no doubt in my mind that the culprit is Angitil and, from what I’ve just read, it may be the cause of my weakness, too. From now on, it’s off the menu.

I’ll talk to my doctor about it as soon as I’m able (I can’t get out, he doesn’t make house calls), as I’m beginning to view Diltiazem as pretty damn dangerous - the only mystery being why I had so few problems for so long.

I have had difficulties with dizziness, sleepiness, a foggy feeling for many hours after taking the med, which complicates activities of daily life like driving or concentrating at wwork! Decision making is slowed first several hours as well and there has been some weight gain as well. I do think it has decreased the painful sensations when pressure points are activated. Trying to decide what to do about this..give the drug up??

I have been taking Coversyl (8 mg/daily) for hypertension for about 3 months. My blood pressure readings are generally in the 130 to 139 over 80 to 89 range so I think the medication is helping to manage high blood pressure. For the last couple of weeks I’ve had what seems like conjunctivitis and a bit of a runny nose. Do you think these may be side effects of Coversyl?

I am 54-year old male, 5′ 8″, 180 lbs, non-smoker, and 5-year testicular cancer survivor. Cancer had spread to lymph nodes and lungs but successful chemotherapy included Cisplatin, Etoposide, and Bleomycin. Also Zofran (anti-nausea) and Dexomethasone (steroid). All CT scans and blood tests since have been “clean”.
I am in generally good health and my lung capacity is 104% of normal despite the Bleomycin.

    I’ve also take Simvastatin (20 mg/daily) beta-blocker and Zoloft (150 md/daily) anti-depressant for past 5 years.

Thank you in advance for any insight you can offer.

Now that my levels are down my surgeon wants me to use Estrofem. He says he used other meds. but they aren’t made anymore. Also, he intends for me to tricate(cut) the pills so I have some conrtrol.
I’m quite intuitive with my body.

I’ve been taking ‘bio identecal’ progestrone + DHEA in troche form for the last three weeks. It
has been such an improvement. However, I’m not real informed on ‘bio identical’ estrogens. In a standard Medical model Progesterine + estrogene aren’t a good combination. So, does anyone know about, or use ‘bio identical’ estrogen? As I must begin estrogine as I have no ovaries I guess ‘bio id’ progestrone will have to stop. The DHEA is OK.

    Answers/opinions please?

I have been having a few problems recently and am unsure if it is caused by the mirena or something else. I have been having severe back pain, a lump in my armpit, pain during sex, slight spotting, my entire left side will go numb and be unable to move and then within minutes it starts tingling and have movement back. I have tried talking to my doctor but she seems to not really listen so what should I do??

    Hi,

I started taking diclflex 3 times a day for tendinitis (?). i was due to start my menstrual cycle last Sunday evening and as i am on the pill, I am generally like clock work. I am now 2 days late and have only had very minor brownish discharge and nothing more. I am worried the tablets have affected my menstrual cycle or worse still that I am pregnant (which I deem to be unlikely). can this drug affect the menstrual cycle?

    Thanks

He then gave me another prescription for 750 mg which was very bad also. He then gave me a new prescription which was atcos with metformin. I couldn’t tolerate that either. It seems anything with metforman doesn’t agree with me. What else could I take for my diabetes 2? With all the guesing like a guiny pig I could become very sick with high sugar numbers. Janumet was also one that has metforman…what next?

For the past several months I have been experiencing neck and shoulder pain with burning/pins and needle sensations in the arms and legs. I also have headaches and sometimes nausea. I have seen a neurologist and a rheumotologist and they have no idea what is wrong with me. I am wondering whether this may be a side effect of the Mabthera and was curious whether this type of side effect has been written up previously.

I have been taking Cordarone, 200 ml 2 times daily, for the past two years. It’s the only thing that keeps my heart from getting out of rhythm, and/or corrects my rhythm if it does get out. My Dr wants me to get off the drug entirely, but the chest pain without is horrible without Cordarone. My questions: Why would a Dr. push so hard to take eliminate Cordarone? Are they some serious side effects that I should know about? What is the average amount of time that someone can stay on the drug? The last time that I was taken off, my AICD fired 4 times in 10 minutes and it still didn’t get my heart back into rhythm. I don’t want that to happen again–it was very painful and I believe it did additional damage to my heart. I fear that my AICD will fire again if I stop the Cordarone.

I feel better now, however, I remain fatigued and depressed most of the time. He took me off Pravastatin today for 1 month. I am nervous about this since I have had a mild heart attack with unstable plaque. However the pain is debilitating. We will see. I was taking 150mg. of coq10 when I started the statin, and did well, but two months ago the pains returned. I have been on 3 other statins. We are running out of drugs to use. I guess we will find out if I’m right or the Dr.

Please can someone tell me if the following is true and if so where can I find information regarding this, as I urgently require it. My Fiance has bipolar and takes Epilum 800mg x2 daily. He was prescribed Klacid 500mg x1 daily for pleurisy and then was prescribed 250mg Klacid for a bacteria that was found in his stomach. He was taking the 500mg as well as the 250mg daily. During this period he started showing signs of going manic, yet was taking his prescribed medication of epilum daily. Is there truth in that Klacid can “cut out” the epilum in his system. I know that antibiotics can do this to contraceptives. His dr did mention when I told her that he was on Epilum that one of the side affects of Klacid is that it counter acts any medication prescribed for psychiatric disorders. I need to know if this is true and where can I find info regarding this.

I have been taking warfarin since 2004 and have the usual side effects of very bruised arms, etc. But I also have some side effects that occur on my shins. If I bump my leg, even slightly, I develop a blister full of fluid. It could be as big as a lemon. I eventually try to pierce it and remove the fluid but a couople of hours later, another blister appears. This can keep happening over and over for weeks. It there any thing I could do to prevent this from occuring. The area becomes very sore. My doctors do not appear to have any answers for me.

The Pharmacy just recently switched my
Warfarin to Jantoven…I didn’t know until I got
home and looked at the bottle. No one told me at the Pharmacy when I picked it up that they had switched it. Is there any difference in it..I called CVS and they said no it was just a different generic. I don’t like the fact that you are taking one medication one day and then 8 months later they switch you to another and especially don’t tell you or why? Questiong?
is there any difference in the two drugs?????

  453. MaryS on July 22nd, 2009 6:18 am

    This message is for JordanCole;
Unless he really needs to take all the pain meds he should be really careful. I was in the hospital for 9 days of pain management and on almost the same meds. 10 mg. Norco 3xday, Flexeril 3x a day and another one too.
by the 8th day when I woke up in the morning I hadn’t moved my position in bed all night…that was it I went home pain and all.
Unless you want to be another Michael Jackson I would cool it on the pain meds unless you reallly really really need them.
I break mine in half, and only take them when I absolutely know it is going to get worse…it’s a habit drug too, so be careful…

    Good morning,
First i would like to congratulate you from offering such a valuable space like this.
    Here is the thing :
    - everyday when i wake up, i dose the glucose and the result as a average is always between 90-150.
at this time (07 AM) i take my daily 20 doses of levemir
    i do GYM 4 days a week.
after my coffe, wich is all based in light and no sugar food, around 10am my glicose is almost 300.
at this time i take novorapid to get it low.

After i lunch at 12:00 the glicose is 190-240 .
And i do not take any novorapid after lunch.
At the gym time at 6pm, the glicose is always under 150.
Levemir has a action profile after 6 hour from injection ?
because i only have hight sugar issues on morning !

Thanks a lot dears, i am looking foward to understand more about this product.

    best regards

I took one Methocarbamol 750 mg pill tonight and 2 hours later woke up with a severe stomach ache and then vomited. I still feel nauseous and my stomach hurts. I don’t take any other medications and had eaten at 6pm, took the pill at 10:30pm with water and went to bed. Anyone else have such a severe reaction?

i have been diagnosed as a nervous depression 2 months ago. I’ve been on medication–Stablon 12.5 mg and Tranxene 5 mg– since then. it is just a start for my treatment. Doctor adviced me to regularly time my sleep and exercise, yet i couldnot make them properly. 1st week of using those medication worked well–making me sleepy– however after those bad habit i think i am getting used to the medication. i am not sleepy anymore after medication. i couldnt sleep at all till 4 or 5 am in morning after taking pill since 11pm couple nites. I have already seen my doctor this 2nd time…he said nothing to do with medication…but i am so worrying it is persisting badly like this….bcause it will take my whole day for just sleeping….without doing any usual things. Have you any advice about this matter?

I do highly appreciate your instant response because it will save my life.
    best regards,

    Sunshine

Wednesday, I choked on Asian Slaw salad, and have been suffering from inflamed airway, frequent coughing, tight chest, restricted airway somewhat.
It seems like a chemical bronchitis-type effect. Do I need further treatment, or is there something to be done rather than suffer with tight chest and coughing?
